A hardy perennial that usually grows to about 3 -4 ft (90cm-120cm)
Discovered in the volcanoes of the Canary Islands and is a much sought after form of the Echium species. Produces a column of rose-pink flowers, with furry grey leaves.
It requires a lot of sun and is found in arid and dry conditions but it frost tolerate down to -5 ºC. This plant is can be found as a garden ornamental but is intolerant of very low temperatures.
As for most Echiums It is favoured by bee-keepers for its high nectar and pollen content.
