Dog Rose - Rosa Canina
A native rose of hedgebanks and downland, it forms a medium sized to large shrub with strong prickly stems and leaves (5-7leaflets). The flowers have are white or pink with a delicate scent. Its stems are covered with small, sharp, hooked spines, which aid it in climbing. The flowers are usually pale pink, but can vary between a deep pink and white and mature into an oval red-orange fruit, or hip.
