Erodium Gruinum ‘Stork Bill’
HB/HP (45cm / 18in) An unusual plant found in Sicily that produces large violet blue
flowers throughout summer and are followed by huge and equally unusual corkscrew
seeds.
‘Pineapple Lily’-HH Bb (30cm / 12in ) A South African relative of the lily that has
massive fleshy leaves and produces long lasting purple edged green flowers from late
summer to autumn.
HB/HP (3-4.5m / 10-14ft) Initially produces palm tree like rosette on a thick stem,
1 to 2 years later the centre holding thousands of flowers shoots upwards. Loved
by bees.
HP (1.20-1.80 / 4-6ft) Tennis ball sized globe thistle produces silvery white seed
heads and is loved by bees and butterflies.
Euphorbia Griffithii ‘Fireglow’
HP (60-90cm / 2-3ft) A native of Bhutan and south-east Tibet. Brick red flowers in
early summer. Plants are fairly drought-tolerant and need little attention.
‘The Giant’ HP (1.50-2.10m / 5-7ft) Numerous spiky heads slowly change from silver
to pale blue on this globe thistle which is loved by bees and butterflies.
Echium Italicum - ‘Italian Viper’
HB/HP (1.20-1.80m / 4-6ft) Sprays of icing pink flowers around hairy grey stems that
branch out in an impressive rosette shape on this specimen plant. Flowers from June
until October with the main show in July.
Echium Wildpretii - Tower of Jewels
HB/HP (90cm-120cm / 3-4ft) Discovered in the volcanoes of the Canary Islands and
is a much sought after form of the Echium species. Produces a column of rose-pink
flowers, with furry grey leaves.
HP (1.50-3m / 5-10ft) Produces large, puckered and lobed leaves on spiky stems above
huge statuesque spikes of tiny reddish-green flowers.
Gentiana Lutea - ‘Giant Yellow’
Pink Cascade-HP(45-60cm / 18-24in) The rare and beautiful pink form of a late summer
flower with arching sprays of very late trumpet shaped flowers - July to Oct
Whitethroat -HP (45cm / 18in) A rare bicoloured form of Asclepiadea which blooms
from August to October. A pure white throated blue trumpet.
HP (90cm / 3ft) Spires of large golden star like flowers with large basal lily like
leaves. A plant that has been used over the centuries for medicinal purposes
Fascicularia Bicolour (20 seeds)
HP (45-60cm / 18-24in) A stunning frost hardy member of the pineapple family. Bright
blue flowers appear in mid summer in a central rosette of narrow prickly leaves whilst
the leaf bases turn a lipstick red.
